Peddamma Gudi or Peddamma temple located at Jubilee Hills on Road No. 55 is a very popular Mahakali Temple in Hyderabad, in fact Telangana region of Andhra Pradresh state. The Goddess here is known as Peddamma, one of the 11 forms of Mahkali and hence the Temple is called Peddamma Gudi.

ABOUT PEDDAMMA:

The word "Peddamma", which is "Pedda" and "Amma", literally means "Mother of Mothers" or "The Supreme Mother". She is one of the 11 forms of Village Deities and The Supreme most.

Mahakali, literally translated as Great Kali, is a Hindu Goddess, considered to be the consort of Shiva the God of consciousness, and as the basis of Reality (see below) and existence. Mahakali in Sanskrit is etymologically the feminized variant of Mahakala or Great Time (which is interpreted also as Death), an epithet of the God Shiva in Hinduism. Mahakali is greater form of the Goddess beyond time, Kali, who is the force of the anger of Durga and is an aspect of the Adi parashakti.

Durga, a beautiful warrior seated upon a tiger, was the first appearance of the great goddess. Also called by many other names, such as Parvati, Ambika, and Kali. Destroyer of demons, she is worshipped during Durga puja, most popular among Bengalis.

ABOUT PEDDAMMA GUDI:

According to officials of Peddammaguddi Temple, there was no evidence regarding existence of the temple, but they believe that this temple is here since 150 years. It was in the year 1993, the temple was noticed in big way and the construction of RajaGopuram was done.

The main attraction of the temple is the radiance on the face of the Mother Goddess. Some people try to place a coin straight on the ground before the goddess and believed that whatever their wishes, they will get fulfilled by the mother.

The Peddammagudi Temple gives a festive mood every day as we can see hundreds of devotees gathering for daily rituals.
