Plant trees

Global warming is becoming very serious as the world’s climate gets out of balance and we see an increase in flooding, drought and extreme temperatures that affect agriculture output as well as health. Greenhouse gases, especially carbon dioxide trap the sun’s heat in the earth’s atmosphere, creating a greenhouse effect that keeps the earth warm. But when it gets too large the earth’s balance is affected and there is a dangerous rise in temperature. This creates severe and extreme weather conditions hence we see more flooding in some areas while other regions suffer droughts.

Why should we plant trees?

There are a multitude of reasons to plant a tree. Many may be obvious, but some are not so obvious. We learned in science class that trees take away the bad carbon dioxide in the air and then releases to us and every other living thing good oxygen. We also know that trees can be beautiful and serene. However, trees can also add to the betterment of our future in many, many other ways.

So, why plant a tree?

  • By planting a tree, we are helping to clean the air and put more oxygen back into the atmosphere.
  • Trees absorb a large amount of carbon dioxide. Many trees should be planted since they involve in photosynthesis, food preparation with the help of sunlight. During this process, trees absorb carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen.
  • From low level ozone in our cities to pesticide and fertilizer runoff from our farms, trees absorb harmful pollutants.
  • Trees are the home of songbirds. Also, shelter wildlife from their predators and from rain.
  • Trees provide clean water and natural flood control. Forests act as natural reservoirs, and they protect watersheds, providing clean water for cities, bays and rivers.
  • By holding soil in place with their root systems, by deflecting pounding rain with their canopies, and by adding nutrients each fall with their leaves, trees are crucial to keeping and improving our soil.
  • Trees save energy and money. Just three trees strategically planted around your home can cut your air conditioning bill in half.
  • Tree shade help cool municipal buildings, lowering electricity bills.
  • Tree planting and community based forestry can add significantly to a local community's sustainable economy while restoring the environment.
  • Trees are a beautiful part of our lives. From striking individual trees that are of historic significance or are simply large and majestic, to a grove of trees in a city park, trees enrich our lives by simply being there.
  • Trees are not just a key to the natural ecosystem - trees are an essential part of community life. So you should plant trees and save our earth.

If more people around the world plant trees we can overcome this problem. Below are the brochure and details of the program.

Let's leave our mark on the planet. Let's plant a tree!
