The ISKCON Temple, or the home of the International Society for Krisna Consciousness, is certainly a site to see.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple and cultural centre in the city Bengaluru, attracting both domestic and international visitors and devotees by the thousands. The ISKCON temple was established in 1997. It is a versatile institution founded by His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada to actively disseminate spiritual education.

It is said to be the second most visited landmark in Bangalore, after Vidhana Soudha (the Karnataka state legislative assembly building), ISKCON offers a truly commendable experience to visitors and devotees from a spiritual, architectural and general perspective.

The ISKCON temple complex in Bangalore is not only a spiritual advancement centre but is also a major tourist attraction, drawing hordes of inland and foreign tourists. An average of around 10,000 people visit the
temple daily and on Sunday it is nearly 20,000. This number increases manifold during important festivals and cultural celebrations in the temple.

However, in spite of the regular inflow of tourists, the temple is reputed for its pristine beauty and cleanliness. Situated atop a hillock aptly called he Hare Krishna Hill in Rajajinagar, 10 km away from Vidhana Soudha, 7 km from the city railway station and 35 km from the Bangalore International airport, this ornate temple is an architectural marvel. Spread over seven acres of land amidst beautiful gardens and water fountains, the complex houses 5 temples, a multi-vision theatre, the Akshaya Patra mechanized kitchen, an open air auditorium, an organic products outlet, an art and craft outlet, Vedic library, a pure vegetarian restaurant, goshala, community halls, administrative offices, guest house for its members and visitors and residential accommodation for devotees.

Along with Sai

The temple is the abode of Their Lordships Sri Sri Prahlada Narasimha, Sri Srinivasa Govinda, Sri Sri Radha Krishna-Chandra, Sri Sri Krishna Balarama and Sri Sri Nitai Gouranga. The awe-inspiring deities bedecked in a riot of colorful silk, jewelry and flowers exude a sense of peace and tranquility.

Never for once deviating from its regular and committed puja routine, and maintaining a divine atmosphere, the temple attracts the devout and the curious tourist.

At night, the temple is beautifully lit up. The gold-plated dwajastambha (flag post) at 17m (56 ft) high and the gold plated kalash shikara at 8.5m (28 ft) high, shimmer in the night sky, leaves the onlooker speechless.
